It has recently been discovered that Molly's Sire has tested positive for Cystinuria. A littermate of Yonder also has it. Molly has two male littermates who have been tested and are negative. Females do not test positive but can be carriers. There is no way to know at this time. UPENN is working on a DNA test for mastiffs. They already found the DNA marker in the Newfoundland.

Additional information can be found on the MCOA website under Health www.mastiff.org . There is no way to know if these babies will be affected. Cystinuria is a disease where crystals form in the urine. The percent of dogs that actually form stones is small compared to the number of dogs who test positive for it. Please do your research.

You can read for a whole day and probably
not cover all the articles! Fact is, Cotton is negative and will
not pass it on. Molly's daddy has it so there is a chance she is
a carrier. IF she throws a male that has it (less than a 9% chance),
the chance is slim that he will have a problem. But, none the
less, Molly and Cotton were bred before I knew that Molly's daddy had tested
